LAKE EVA / LAKE HENRY
Connecting Lake Henry and Lake Eva
The City of Haines City has requested professional services for the Lake Eva and Lake Henry Restoration Feasibility Study. The project is located within Peace Creek watershed in Polk County, Florida and will evaluate the concept and projects identified in the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s (SWFWMD’s) Peace Creek Canal Watershed work, and other possible concepts developed by the consultant team and Haines City. Applied Sciences is the modeling consultant to Brown and Caldwell Team for this project.
SWFWMD desires feasible solutions for implementation to connect Lake Henry and Lake Eva through natural systems such as wetlands, private canal systems through Morrison Ranch, and a drainage ditch maintained by Haines City Water Control District. This Project will focus on how best to meet regional integrated water resources needs and is being cooperatively funded by the SWFWMD Project No. N830.
This project is consistent with the local and national water quality strategic initiatives, and aligns with the historical goal of restoring the Peace Creek watershed and retaining more water in the Polk County area. It also aligns with the Water Management Districts' Central Florida Water Initiative (CFWI), and addresses integrated watershed management approach outlined in Senate Bill 536, Expansion of Beneficial Uses of Stormwater and Excess Surface Water.
Applied Sciences Consulting Inc. has been tasked to complete certain professional services as they relate to data collection and evaluation, alternatives analysis and ranking, preliminary design, reporting and presentations, and project meetings.
